A two wheeled motor vehicle powered by an engine is called a motorcycle. These are capable of traveling long distance. Motorcycle is a category that includes sport bikes, scooters, mopeds and cruisers. The significant feature that marks a scooter is that it has protective leg shields. It has a personal vehicle that operates on low power, usually within the range of 50 to 250 cc. Scooters are priced cheap and have lower maintenance cost. They are more fuel-efficient, have better storage space and weighs lesser.
Urban traffic in most countries is becoming a nightmare. Traffic congestions due to increased automobiles on the road are common place. Roads are not often favorable for automobiles to ride on. Motorcycles are a major means of transport in a number of countries and in particular the Asian countries of China, India, Indonesia and Vietnam. In these countries, motorcycles form the major proportion of motor vehicles. Often, the public transport system is not adequate. Motorcycles become the cheaper and affordable preferred means of transport for many. It is estimated that the sales of motorcycles grew by an impressive 6.5 percent in 2008 despite the economic slide worldwide. Even the US has reported an increased sale. Motorcyclists form their own social groups and sub-cultures. In the world of sports, motorcycle racing is a popular sport.
{Lambretta and Vespa are two well known scooters that set the trend. Later versions of scooters have introduced larger engines and tires, newer technological features, more automation, and comfort features. There are many automotive industries who manufacture a variety of motorcycles. Newer and improved models are launched in the market due to its high demand amongst motor vehicles. There are many user friendly scooters in the market as the Roketa 150cc in the market. The popularity of scooters was set by Vespa and Lambretta worldwide. Better and more efficient scooters were launched. Newer technologies made it better to ride. They had better tires and larger engines. More features were added. A variety of designs are on the road brought out by many motorcycle manufacturers. Increasing demand and demand for better features have brought out improved models. }
Motorcycles are more fuel efficient than automobiles. The fact that petroleum is a non-renewable source of fuel and the increase in fuel prices makes motorcycles an attractive mode of travel though its passenger capacity is limited. Environmentally motorcycles are better in terms of emission of greenhouse gases but are many times more polluting than a car. Nitrogen oxide that is a byproduct of combustion is a major pollutant from motorcycle. The rate of fatal accidents is relatively more with motorcycles than automobiles.

A smart motorcyclist knows how important it is to have the right gear. Responsible riders spend time and money on the proper boots, helmets, jacket, gloves, and eye protection. The right safety gear can make the difference between life and death. Often bikers forget about a safety vest. Safety vest requirements are changing due to the level of danger. The thing motorcyclists need to worry about most is the other drivers on the road. You can dramatically enhance your visibility by wearing a safety vest. There are a few things to look at when selecting the safety vest that will perform the best. Look for a vest that is well made and will fit your body. Look for a vest made from material which is easy to clean and very strong. The vest needs to have reflective material applied so that light is reflected in each direction. All the fastening mechanisms should be heavy duty and easy to operate when you are wearing gloves. The safety vest should be close fitting but not so tight that it restricts your movement. Often they will have adjustable straps so that you can give it a comfortable custom fit. Custom safety vest can be tailored to your specific need. Safety vests come in a variety of colors including white, red, yellow, orange, and pink. The color you choose is largely a matter of personal preference. Most other drivers on the road are used to seeing orange safety vests worn by traffic workers so it may be best at attracting our attention. It helps to determine which colors will stand out best when combined with the jacket that use usually wear to ride. Having a big contrast between the colors you are wearing will stand out while you are driving down the road. You can further enhance your visibility by using brightly colored clothing under your safety vest. Often safety vests will not feature reflective material around the arms to improve your visibility to those looking out from side streets. This can be fixed with the addition of a helmet halo or reflective armband. Don’t forget to review tearaway safety vests for your safety requirements.

It was in 1885 that Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach designed the first motorcycle. The motorcycle has become a preferred mode of transport in many countries. In the Asian countries of Indonesia, India, China and Vietnam, there are more motorcycles than other vehicles. Its popularity in the United States is also increasing. The reasons for the preference of motorcycles over other vehicles are not hard to find. Motorcycles can be easily maneuvered in the heavy traffic. City traffic has become so heavy that it crawls in places and creates jams in other places. Many people these days travel a long distance to reach their place of work. But motorcycles are able to weave through these hurdles. Most public places do not permit parking of vehicles. Parking lots have no places. The cost to move around in vehicles too has increased prohibitively. There are the road taxes to be paid. There are the parking fees, the toll charges and the congestion charges too to take care of. Motorcycles are either exempt from some of these charges or have to pay lower fees. They have a better fuel economy with higher fuel efficiency.
Scooters too are classified under motorcycles. It has smaller engines and its wheels are smaller as compared to motorbikes. It is more comfortable to ride. The legs can be placed on the running board with the knees kept together. There is a protective fender in front of the knees to protect the legs. Many modifications have been made to the designs of the scooter.
There are the more powerful motor-scooters and maxi-scooters. Another innovation is the four wheeled scooter. The Nextsport Fuzion Scooter is designed with four wheels capable of 360-degree rotation with the front wheel. The scooter is capable of performing tricks and is meant for kids of seven years or more. It is a good gift for children.
Rather than improve the public transport system to cater to the emerging needs, the policy everywhere is to promote private transport. Nor are mass transit system given the importance it rightly deserves. The old guzzlers are made economical with the introduction of more fuel efficient engines. In order to carry the ever increasing traffic, the infrastructure for transport is getting up-scaled as never before. The old roads which are incapable of carrying the traffic are replaced with four-lane road or expressways. Given these developments, motorcycles are becoming a preferred mode of transport.
