Motorcycle Motor Oil

If you are still using the same motor oil for your motorcycle that you use in your lawn tractor, you are making a big mistake.  Don’t spend so much time and effort on a high performance bike then skimp on the most important fluid, the motorcycle motor oil..  Some people do not know how to maintain their motorcycle.  It would be a good idea to first learn how to care for your motorcycle before getting your cool riding outfit.

If you are not certain about when to complete scheduled maintenance on your motorcycle, locate the bike’s manual. If you do not have access to the manual, the chances are good that the company has posted the manual as a web site or has posted the manual in a downloadable format.  Your manufacturer will help you identify when to do your scheduled maintenance for all aspects of your motorcycle including chain oil .

Using your owner’s manual, verify that you may use Royal Purple synthetic oil or stick with the conventional motorcycle oil.  Choosing the best motorcycle oil for your bike is a very important decision to make for all bike owners. If you would like to increase horsepower you will want to go with a synthetic motorcycle oil.

The procedure for giving your motorcycle an oil change are not much different, drain motorcycle oil, change filter, refill oil. Although you may be used to choosing the same oil for your motorcycle that you use in your car, make your decision based on performance and extending the life of your investment. Do not sew a patch on your tuxedo, that is to say that you should not buy a high performance motorcycle and fill it with the same oil that you use in your garden tractor, high performance motorcycles deserve high performance lubricants. The high RPM’s of the motorcycle engine require your attention for optimal lubrication, to ensure proper cooling and continued high performance. Do not forget to routinely check your fluid levels and tire pressure to ensure optimum safety and performance.

Motorcycles were created to be enjoyed, enjoy your ride to the fullest extent, but learn to properly take care of your engine so that you may enjoy it for many years to come. A couple extra dollars spent on quality motor oil may save you from buying another engine down the road.
